Having obtained her law degree at a tender age of 22, Arlene is the selected few who could qualify as a solicitor of England and Wales and was also called to the Bar in Malaysia. She began her practice growing particular interest in the laws of Intellectual Property. Her clientele includes multinational companies and international pharmaceutical companies in patent litigation cases where she litigated up until the Federal Court stage. At early stages of her practice, Arlene was involved in many prolific cases and has worked together with many prominent lawyers, including Datuk Sri Gopal Sri Ram, Datuk Harpal Singh, Dato Joshua Kevin Sathiaseelan, her mentor and benefactor Mr Gerald Samuel and her pupil master, Dato’ George Miranda.

Arlene has also expertise in Franchise matters, offering advice and drafting services to international and local clients, including a famous sandwich chain. She has also advised on the incorporation, franchising and licensing, collaboration and also joint venture between companies.

Arlene later joined Messrs Yee How & Tan, overseeing the Intellectual Property Department in her new firm. There, Arlene has acted for various companies including public listed as well as multinational companies in their commercial, corporate and litigation matters.  Arlene handled the portfolio of several public companies exclusively.

Arlene has also handled prolific cases reported in the law journals in Malaysia, up to the Federal Court.

A qualified and registered Trade Mark Agent, Patent Agent, and Industrial Design Agent in Malaysia, Arlene has helped many companies, to register, protect, enforce, collaborate and litigate on their various IP rights.

Being close with companies that she work with, Arlene has also represented her clients in general litigation and commercial matters and has close relationship with leading MM2H companies and developers in Malaysia. Her particular strengths are on claims for GRR payments, debt recovery, real estate claims and commercial breach of contracts.

Arlene also dabbles in conveyancing as well, making her one of the few all-rounded lawyers in the market.

During her free time, Arlene tries to give back to society by being actively involved in various non-governmental organisations. She sits in boards of a few societies, big and small and is also a legal advisor of a local Chinese Primary School, whereby her biggest pride and joy is being recently appointed as Secretary General of Malaysia Entrepreneurs Development Association (PUMM).
